urion is a powerful man despite only being a mere 4'10'' (Tall for a mountain dwarf), he is broad of shoulder and full of muscle. His body has been shaped by years of blacksmith work and mining. He is graced with long, ebony hair that falls down by his shoulders and is mingled with braids adorned in iron clasps. His hair has begun to show a few gray streaks near his crown due to his age but he is by no means an old man. The dwarf holds a respectable presence and seems to inspire others when he calls to arms. There is a sense of pride and loyalty about him, shown in the way he tends to himself. While he detests the idea of being linked to the ritualistic grooming habits of Elves, Durion maintains his cleanliness well- with only his hands remaining rough from years of hard labor.
Durion is the last of the
bloodline. His family was slain shortly after his exile from the Northern Mountains, where the mountain dwarves reside.
During his youth, at the mere age of 50, he slayed the mighty black dire bear which terrorized the entrance to the mountains and kept their hunters at bay for many restless nights. It was from this act that he earned the nick name, Black Bear. He was gifted with a fur trimmed coat fashioned of the bears fur along with boots and a belt of the same nature.
At the age of 75, in a fit of rage, Durion slayed the then dwarf king, Horthos Goldside. Horthos had ruled with a strict iron fist, preventing any member of the Blackiron family (seen as the second and only other 'royal' bloodline capable of inheriting the throne) from breeding without his blessing. He often had members of the Blackirons slain in the streets by various cruel means to prove that even the most seemingly loyal dwarf could be considered a traitor if given a reason and would thusly be dispatched by the kings men. It was through years of forced servitude that Durion learned to hate the Goldsides. As a young boy, he was taught that though he was of royal blood (and thus, tall for a dwarf), he was not allowed to pick a job. That would be given to him by the king. The king bestowed upon Durion the craft of blacksmith and warrior in times of war.
When Durion finally beheaded the king, his loyal men turned their eyes upon the eldest son and sought his head in return. While he fled in self imposed exile to avoid death, he did not suspect that the rest of his kin would be unable to flee. It took twenty long years before Durion learned he was the last known Blackiron alive. The rest has been captured by the remaining Goldsides and publically tortured for being related to the King Slayer.
